More about Kristin the real estate agent

Before my career

Born in Iowa while my father studied to become a veterinarian, I was destined to grow up and work in our large and small animal practice in Nebraska.

I helped my mother manage our veterinary clinic of three doctors, serving the farming and ranching community from an early age.

We raised cattle, horses, hogs, sheep, and chickens, as well as corn, soybeans, milo, and alfalfa; so I learned to irrigate and fix fence before I could see over the milo.

I loved life on the farm and ranch, and am thrilled to be back to live and work in the agricultural community.

Before real estate

My 20+-year professional career in international corporate marketing communications, advertising, and public relations provides my real estate clients a professional who knows how to target the market and get results.

After jumping the corporate planet in 1998, we bought land in the high country of the Rockies, helping to design and build our new mountain home (at 8,500 ft elev) near Grand Lake, Colorado.

Developing vacant land and new home construction is also in my portfolio of experience, so as your realtor I can connect you with local professionals to help create your dream home in our valley.

Discovering Colorado's Western Slope

As a Certified Educator with the Living Foods Institute (Atlanta 2010), I was invited to Paonia to research real estate in the area and write a business plan proposal for a community healing center.

My introduction to Paonia for the first 6 months was living in a 1979 Airstream camper as caretaker of the gardens, apple orchard, hay field, and managing the irrigating. I fell in love with the valley and knew I'd found my new home.

The proposal project completed (and the healing center vision still alive), I moved to an acreage on Pitkin Mesa and became a tenant caretaker while studying for my real estate license.

What I am doing now

With my primary realty office in my home, I now live high on Roger's Mesa as caretaker for a private 40-acre ranch, maintaining the rental house, gardens and grounds.

I am happy to say I finished 2017 in the high ranking numbers of realtors in the valley, grateful and proud to be employed by the brokerage company who ranked #1 overall. I also work two to three days a week in our beautiful new office in Paonia, so please give me a call and stop in.

I have a passion for this beautiful mountain valley of abundance and am committed to the vision of maintaining ownership of the farmlands to continue to grow food and sustainable crops into the future.

Where to find me

Most of the time you can find me out in the gardens, and in the field showing real estate. I love to raise my food, landscape and grow flowers, read, coach my health clients, travel, and visit my children, grandchildren, and family in Nebraska as often as possible.

I am also dreaming of owning a horse again, so if anyone knows of a young gelding in a need of a good, loving home, let me know!
